Happy Friday! Sharing this guide today known as the Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen list. The Environmental Working Group created a shopper’s guide to Pesticides in Produce based off test results from the USDA and FDA. This list is updated annually and is very helpful when determining which veggies and fruit you should “Always” buy organic → Dirty Dozen tested with the most pesticide residue and Clean Fifteen tested with the least amount of pesticide if any.
What is most frightening is that the USDA researchers found a total of 178 different pesticides and the pesticide residues remained on fruits and vegetables even after they were washed, peeled and prepared to be eaten. Next time you are out shopping make sure to be mindful when choosing from the dirty dozen. If you can’t afford organic then I would suggest choosing from the Clean 15. This is just one step closer to reducing pesticide exposure in your diet. Happy Shopping!
